Second Phase of COREMAP

Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelagic nation with more than 17,500 islands and 81,000 kilometer (km) coastline with abundant coral reefs, seagrasses and mangroves resources. Its vast coral reef cover which consists of 70 genera and 450 species of corals extends over an area of 25,695 square kilometer, equivalent to ten percent of the world’s total coral reef area.

As a long-term commitment to sustainable management of coral reefs and related ecosystems, the Government of Indonesia is currently implementing the Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Program, Phase II (COREMAP II).
